The Carousel

Carousel VI

Round and round,

Faster and faster,

My life seems to be spinning.

More and more is added

to every minute, every hour, every day.

All seems to be whirling out of control:

More responsibilities, more deadlines, more tasks.

Stop spinning!

I need to get off.

For just a moment, a minute,

To catch my breath

And regain my equilibrium.

Then when I am ready -

Calm, collected, at peace -

I will get back on and enjoy the ride.

Do you often feel your life is spinning out of control?

  1. Not sure about out of control but definetly gets busy quickly a lot of the time. Our weeks and sometimes weekends get pretty filled up. I try and make a point with my wife to have at least one weekend a month that is just for us and not filled up with stuff. Its important to have find balance so we don’t drive ourselves crazy! Hope all is well with you and your family! Cheers!

I got dizzy reading this – ha! In answer to your question, yes, at least once a week!

  3. Gemma says:

Does this mean you need a blog break? ;-(

    • Colline says:

For the past week I have not been able to write on my blog and it is sorely missed. I love blogging and it is a sad moment for me when I cannot write, read other blogs, and communicate with those I have come to know.

  4. I spent many years on that ride, Colline. I have no idea how you get off! Great poem. I chuckled when I read it since I’m certain yours is a universal conundrum! :-)

Busy at work, busy at home. It is no wonder that people are stressed. If we could work out how to get off, I think our lives would be a lot healthier.

Love your post. We all have our spins in life that can leave us a little dizzy. We adjust and continue on our way. I love how you put it.

    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!

  6. Suzanne says:

Hope you find some time to slow and get your breath back :)

  7. colonialist says:

Indeed; how often don’t I complain of being in a flat spin!

  8. enjoy says:

Yes, today was one of them!!

  9. You mean to tell me one can get off?!?!?!?!?

  10. Great post. The spinning carousel reminded me of the ride I had at Pleasure Pier. Crazy ride!

  11. Imelda says:

I hope you get a little time-off and recharge. :-)

    • Colline says:

I am really looking forward to the March break – but that is still a month away! In the meantime I try to charge my batteries for a few hours every weekend.

I love how you have written this Colline, I felt like I was on a carousel.
