We have tamed nature: we pull out weeds and and nature’s grasses to plant a grass we have tamed. We mow our lawns and plant flowerbeds. However, I find beauty in the riotous arrangement of nature’s grasses and flowers in the Southern African veld during the summer when the plants are in flower after the rains.

I enjoy walking through this veld and seeing the flowers swaying in the wind.
What beauty do you see in Nature’s velds/plains?

I love the wildness of the open plains here in Texas. Grasses and flowers mix, as you have shown here, and transform the land into ocean waves swelling and breaking in the breeze.
This is a beautiful picture! Thank you for sharing it.

Hi,
A lovely photo, when nature is left alone it can certainly show us some wonders in the different colours of wildflowers that came up, the yellow flowers look really nice, a beautiful splash of colour. 🙂

I think we love them because they are such a contrast to the tamed and ordered gardens we normally see. I sometimes wish that we could see them more often.

I love the riotous arrangement of wild gardens, too! I try to duplicate that in my back garden with a mixture of bushes, perrienials, vines, cedars and trees, Since we have a lot of flagstone and rock, I have found that some wild plants have emerged – moss between the flagstone, some vines that I didn’t plant with a variegated leaf – very pretty! This is my favorite part of the season when everything begins to grow. I will allow some of the wild flowers and plants to participate amongst my chosen plants. Then my back garden will be a close cousin of the nearby parks and ponds, where I think the seeds of the wild plants have drifted in from. Without grass, just soil, they have found traction amonst the landsacpe.

Often if nature is allowed, it will creep back into the well-tended gardens of our suburbs. I am sure you will gain much pleasure from the plants that return to the place they once were. 🙂

You know what you are doing here. The yellow curve carries the eye into the photograph. It’s difficult to photograph a field of like flowers. You composed this so very well. Beautiful.

the beauty also lies in what you dont see. .the sound of the wind blowing through the grass. .the insects and birds nsync in a spring time song..the smell of flowers, grass and wild fruits in mix to make a mysterious aroma..

That is so true. The best is to lie in the grasses and let your senses be surrounded by the sight, smell and sound of nature.

Beautiful thoughts and photo. One thing I love about Spring is the wild flowers, their colors, shapes and arrangement. It makes me remember how nature can be so beautiful without trying. That God created everyone and everything beautiful. I wish a lot of people could see that as well. Thanks.

I agree, nature makes the most beautiful arrangements without man’s interference. Sometimes we can learn a lot just from observing God’s original arrangements.

Thank you. I am not a trained photographer so did not think of composition, etc. I thought instead of a picture containing two subjects that would contrast and show off one another.
