While at Gold Reef City (in Johannesburg, South Africa), we took the train ride that weaves between the sights created in the amusement park. My favourite view from inside the train was when we passed the buildings of a time gone by that had been restored.
Later on in the day we went to walk around the area we had caught a glimpse of.
Do you enjoy views from inside a train?
(This post was inspired by the Weekly Photo Challenge prompt: Inside)
Yes, I don’t g\travel on trains very often, but really enjoy looking out of the window. 🙂 Haven’t been to Gold Reef City for many years. When did you go?

I went about three years ago when I was visiting my family in Jo’burg. Next time we visit my girls want to go again 🙂

Trains are great, I love going on them. When I first saw this image I though, Colline has been to Melbourne and didn’t tell me, but then I read it. LOL. We have very similar buildings here.

I think it must be because of the British colonialisation.
And don’t worry – when I come to Melbourne I will try to see you 🙂

I love looking out of trains, Colline. But I get quite frustrated trying to catch good shots when we’re moving. 🙂

Especially when they are moving fast! Luckily the train I was on at Gold reef City was very slow moving.

I never tried to take a pic while in train, but it has been a while since I was on one … I like your view, Colline and your take on the theme.

Thank you Paula.
I take the train to get to work. Unfortunately it is underground so I do not get to see beautiful views 😦

Prefer the train above a bus and I love to look through the window. I wish I could travel more often, especially to and in other countries.
Beautiful photo Colline!

I agree with you – sometimes a bus ride can be a little uncomfortable.

My favorite thing was how the awning had a wave-reipple that framed the shot – really made one feel like they were there! also like the yellow building. nice take on the theme. 🙂 ~y.

That is exactly what I like about this photo – and that the frame is dark in comparison to the bright yellow of the building.

Happy St. Patty’s Day! (not sure if you celebrate it – but thought I would throw that in there. )

Growing up we never did. But it looks like one celebration I should begin to participate in 🙂

The views, I think, are the reason to take a train, Colline. Our superhighways seem removed from the scenery whereas a train’s tracks go just about anywhere. I once saw a pair of horses romping in a field covered with freshly fallen snow. It was a beautiful sight. Never saw anything remotely like it when in a car.

It is so true what you say John. I also find riding in a train more relaxing to that of a car. Double win 🙂

What a great question!
I am now thinking of the views from the TGV Paris to Marseilles. I enjoyed every minute gazing out the window and daydreaming.

What beautiful views those must have been. And much better than the views seen from a bus I am sure.

Beautiful old buildings, so different today, the old buildings had character and every building could tell a story.
Reminded me of many old buildings we have here in Melbourne and Sydney.

This one comes from the time of British colonialisation – which would be around the time some of the buildings in your part of the world were built 🙂
